Current themes

My research focuses on the dynamics of boreal forest ecosystems, over longer time periods and at different spatial scales. Broadly defined, the aim of this work is to understand boreal forest development and forest ecosystem responses to changing disturbance regimes (including anthropogenic disturbances), and environmental conditions. I work mostly with tree rings, and to an increasing extent with other time series data, such as repeat aerial photographs or national forest inventory data sets.
