Academic background

M.Sc. (Ecology)
Ph.D. student (Forest sciences)

Professional experience:

I graduated in 2020 in the University of Jyväskylä as M.Sc. majoring in ecology, after which I worked for couple years in the Finnish Museum of Natural History. Now I am working as a Ph.D. student in the School of Forest Sciences in University of Eastern Finland.

Current research themes:

I am doing my dissertation in the Kelo-project, steered by Tuomas Aakala. More specifically I am studying the chemical composition of kelo trees – which are very long-standing dead Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris) trees -, to find the drivers of kelo formation.
During my dissertation project I will focus on wood material chemistry and boreal forest dynamics, and I will in addition learn some dendrochronological methods. I have also some experience in different biodiversity measures and community ecology, and I am continuously increasing my knowledge on species composition of boreal forests and other northern ecosystems.
I am very interested in the continuation of dynamic boreal forest ecosystems and their diversity.

Key words : Kelo trees, boreal forests, wood material chemistry, forest dynamics
