Research themes & interests

My research aims to understand the historical, contemporary, and future effects of global changes upon forest ecosystems. I reconstruct the forest dynamics of the last centuries at different spatial scales using historical archives (e.g., early land surveys or aerial photographs). Such reconstructions are very useful to understand the drivers of such historical changes. Additionally, I develop models based on forest inventory and remote-sensed data to understand contemporary and future forest dynamics in the context of changes in climate and disturbance regimes.
